Congratulations to all my GCSE English resit students for their super results in the November exams.
Every single one of them secured at least the equivalent of a pass, with a couple of students performing superbly to secure grade 7, or what used to be thought of as a low A. I received some really kind feedback from one of their parents:
‘I wanted to let you know that William boosted his English grade and got a 7- we are all so happy!
Thanks again for all your help – couldn’t have done it without you.

Congratulations to all my students on their excellent English GCSE and A level results.
Some intensive last minute revision has helped significantly in a number of cases, with the final grades much better than those predicted by the schools after the mocks. Overall, pleased to have helped so many students get the grades they need for the next stage of their lives!

With the examination period approaching, many GCSE and A level English students would benefit from sessions with a tutor in the following areas:
Subject knowledge – for example, extra tuition on a set text to supplement notes and improve understanding. This is particularly important for A level Lit students, since a high degree of knowledge is required in order to achieve the best grades. One on one sessions are great for consolidating understanding of set texts; they provide an opportunity for the student to articulate a clear, personal response and for me to find out exactly where the weaknesses are. Great examination results all round!
A big well done to all my students for their great results in both GCSE and A level examinations this year! I am delighted that the hard work has paid off for all of them.
The wait for GCSE students eager to see how they performed under the new 1-9 grading system with AQA has been worthwhile, with 75% of the grades given to my tutees coming in at 9, the very top grade, and 25% of them at grade 8. I am absolutely delighted for all of them! Continue reading “Great results at GCSE and A level”
